BIO: Diamond came from East Tennessee as a stray. She wandered into someone’s yard and we were notified after they tried to find the owners. A bit about this precious girl:
Takes a little to warm up
Would like another dog (male or submissive female) to keep her company if you have to be gone
Toy possessive
Needs a fenced in yard
Does not like a crate
No apartments
This little girl is so sweet and was extremely thin when we got her but with some good food and larger portions, she’s gaining some weight and is almost where she needs to be. She is an excellent eater. We guessed her age to be around 8 years which is about right for the 11 teeth she lost in her dental. She is very active and loving and she wants to be near you all the time. She also enjoys cuddling and being loved and giving kisses.
She is looking for a home that will not dump or abandon her again, so please reach out to her foster mom if you’re interested in knowing more about this sweet girl.
P.S. She’s happy sleeping on the couch at night while everyone is tucked in bed for the night, though she really wants to sleep in the Big Bed with you.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
