BIO:  Hi, Pepper here!  My "family" had me for my whole 14 years and dumped me at the shelter in north Alabama ‘cause they didn’t want to see me die.  How could they do that?  Wasn’t I good enough for them?  Wasn’t I loyal enough?  I gave them everything I had.  Just a little bit about me:

  • Not a barker
  • On special food
  • Love to snuggle with another dog
  • If no fence, you will need to leash me for potty time because when I want, I can really move!

Pepper is an easy keeper.  If you are looking for a dog to cuddle with yours because your dog lost his or her mate, this little girl would be perfect.  All Pepper wants is her KD canned stew and a bed to cuddle in with another dachshund.  Then she is a happy camper.  Pepper is low-key and sleeps most of the time but gets active when it’s feeding time or when she needs to go out.

Pepper is a sweet little girl, has no teeth, and loves the quiet life.  Can you provide her last place to lay her head down, please?  Contact her foster mom for more about her.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids, Leashtrained, Even-tempered

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
