BIO:  Miss Winnie came in with Mr. Weenie when their owner could no longer care for them and because they have been together all their life, we are going to try and adopt them out together.

  • Must have a fenced yard
  • Must be home a lot to keep them on a strict potty schedule
  • No young children
  • No apartments

These two are just the sweetest! Miss Winnie loves to sit with her brother and just watch her foster mom and follow you anywhere in the house you go. They belonged to a retired person so we want them to go to a retired couple or someone who is home a lot. Both Miss Winnie and Mr. Weenie are very sweet dogs and do not have a mean bone in either of their bodies. They are a delight to foster.

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
