BIO: Sage and her sister Sierra came from a shelter in middle AL. If you want to adopt Sierra and Sage together please let their foster mom know.

  • Must have someone home a lot to help them with potty training
  • Must have another young dog to play with
  • Must have a fenced yard
  • No apartments

Sage is a sweet girl and more of a cuddle-bunny than her sister. While she can get a little wild, she does like to curl up in your lap for some down-time. She really needs someone that can keep up with her puppy antics so if you don’t have the time to train a puppy, then please consider an older dog. We want her to have a fenced yard and either her sister or a young dog to play with. They are doing very well with going potty outside to a doggie door; the adopter would just need to have the time to take them out on scheduled potty breaks. We believe she may end up being around 12-14 poundst when full grown. Don’t hesitate... these babies will be gone in a heartbeat!

More about Sage in PA

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
