If you are looking for a sweet, mostly doxie, then look no further. Cocoa is so very sweet and she’s happy to be out of that miserable place she was in. She’d be good with kids 8 years plus as long as they respect a dog’s space. Because she was in a crate so much, we don’t want to send her to a home that is going to crate her at all. She’s had enough of that life.
If you are looking for a companion for yourself and you are home a lot, then please consider giving Cocoa the kind of home she deserves. Where she is not called “stupid.” She will repay you with tail wags and loyal devotion. Contact her foster mom if you have any questions or fill out our online adoption application.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
