BIO: Buttons and his best friend, Buffie (see her bio) has had a sad life but still have the love for people.  They first started out with a family but when the family could not take care of them anymore they went up for sale at a Walmart parking lot.  A nice person from the Human Society rescued them.  When they went up for adoption a man that wanted both of them and promised to give them a good home.  Well ... at some point he didn't want them anymore and gave them to an employee of his.  Buttons & Buffie lived outside in a doghouse but never complained.  The women tried to take good care of them but her husband didn’t want them and when they came to their foster home we have learned that they are skittish around men.  They now have lots of foster brothers and sisters and are working on being around men.  If you didn't keep count -- in less than one year of their lives they have lived in 5 homes.  Buttons is a solid black dachshund – how unique.  He is such a loving dog with lots of energy.  He would do well in a home with another dog – big or small.  He is skittish of men and may take some time to warm up to a man so the man would have to be willing to give Buttons time to get to know him.  Buttons loves a good belly rub and to lay on your lap and sleep in the big bed.  Although Buttons and Buffie would like to go to a home together, they are not so bonded that they could not be separated!  Please give Buttons the furever home he has never had!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Good with Dogs

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
