BIO (UPDATED 8/28/2019):

Bentley is a lover!  This little guy has yet to meet someone he doesn’t want to be friends with. He is pretty mellow, mild-mannered, and sweet as can be.  If you so much as look at him, there’s a good chance his tail is going to start thumping.  He loves to nap in his bed and explore a fenced yard (he especially loves sunbathing!), but he is fairly low energy.

Have I mentioned how much he loves to lay in his bed or on the couch?  He also loves to burrow like the doxie that he is!  He is all for cuddle time on your lap, but he’s perfectly fine to sit or ride next to you for hours on end—Bentley’s former owner was a truck driver, so Bentley is used to long hours on the road and would make a good travel companion.  Unfortunately, Bentley’s owner had health issues, and Bentley and 2 other dogs were surrendered.  He seems to like having other dogs around—he loves to cuddle with his foster brothers and he’s good with cats.

You won’t find a pup any sweeter than Bentley!  Contact Kait for more information at kait.cassell@gmail.com.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
