BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTHERN TN
SKEETER was an owner turn in down in a shelter in southern AL. Why we don't know cause he's as sweet as he can be. He gets along with all the fosters here, male and female and he likes to play. He does appear to be housetrained but we also have a doggie dog. As you can see he likes to be a couch potato when you are watching your favorite TV program. He'll even try to stay away while you watch the games on TV but he won't promise. He will either sleep in the big bed with you or in a doggie bed beside yours. He doesn't care much for a crate. We aren't sure about cats and kids older than 8 would be fine as long as they were gentle with him.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about SKEETER...MS
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
