BEING FOSTERED IN MIDDLE TN..........
SIMON & BAXTER came in together as owner surrenders. They belonged to a multi dog household and just weren't getting the attention they needed so the owners felt it was best to surrender them. After what they have told us we also think it would be best to separate them as they do compet for attention and argue alot, sometimes getting quite mean with each other. These boys are very sweet and separated think they would be fine with another female that they can play and snuggle and sleep with. Simon is the bigger of the two and they are UTD on all shots and heartworm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline. SIMON is a little shy at first but will warm up quickly and give him a treat and he really warms up. He is housetrained but will have accidents until he learns your schedule. Please find it in your heart to give this sweet boy a loving home. Kids over 10 would be fine.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about SIMON......TN
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
