BEING FOSTER IN CENTRAL VA
Sydney is a mini, red, smooth, dapple who is approximately 1-2 years old. She weighs in at 9 lbs. Sydney is UTD on vaccines, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and micro chipped. She came from a TN shelter with an unknown history. When she first came into rescue she was very anxious and quite terrified of everyone. She has come a very long way. She is very active and loves to PLAY...PLAY.....PLAY! She has adapted very well in her foster home with 5 other dachshunds, she can be a little bossy at times but never aggressive. She however is not good with cats and loves to chase the one in her foster home. Sydney remains wary of strangers but with a one-on-one situation will warm up. She does not do well with people she doesn't know reaching quickly for her, she also is very nervous with sudden movements &/or loud noises. Because of these reasons she cannot be adopted to anyone with small children. Sydney is very loving with her foster family which include human siblings ages 15 & 12. She loves to for car rides and long walks, but her favorite past time is playing chase in the back yard with her fur foster siblings. Sydney's ideal home would be an active family with older or no children, another fur sibling ( small to medium in size), fenced in back yard, and a previous knowledge of dachshunds. Sydney is a wonderfully sweet girl who loves with all her heart once you have won her trust. If you think you maybe the right home and/ or have questions, e-mail her foster Mom in VA at CCRN70@AOL.com .
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
More about SIDNEY...MA
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
