BEING FOSTERED IN TN AND NOW NEEDS TO LOSE A LB or 2!!
SHELTON came into a shelter in Huntsville, AL and is very shy. He's sweet as he can be but is very shy and could have been possibly abused. He is not a barker and has a birth defect of only having one eardrum. The other ear is closed up. He can hear just fine. He was adopted out to us and returned due to life changes. We now find Shelter much more social, very sweet still and getting along with all dogs and small children but "NO CATS". He is have a slight sumissive urnaition problem but have not seen that since he's come back into rescue. He knows how to use the doggie door and does. He is up todate on all shots, Frontline and will be heartworm tested before going to his new home. If you want a sweet boy to cuddle to your kids this is the boy for you. Must have a fenced in yard and better to have a doggie door. Does walk on a leash but does better pottying when allowed to wander in the yard.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about SHELTON....TN
Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
