They came from LA where they are over-run by Dachshunds being surrendered and dumped at shelters. This little girl as personality plus and just loves to inter-react with people. She is as sweet as can be but don't let that sweetness fool you she can attack your hand or shoes in a minute. SHARKY has had her first set of shots and goes back in next week for another set. She is eating puppy food very well and drinking. She is learning the paper-training rather quickly. Loves to play with toys, rawhides and your fingers or toes. Remember that you have to have her spayed by the 7th month or we will take her back as we do not want to ADD TO THE PET OVER-POPULATION. If you think you'd like to add a puppy to your family please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
