SCOTTY IS DOING GREAT ON WALKS, LOVES THE CATS, GETS ALONE WITH OUR 4 DOGS IN THE HOUSE. LOVES HUGS, SLEEPING IN THE BIG BED. HE IS JUST AS SWEET AS HE CAN BE!!! PLEASE GIVE HIM A FOREVER HOME.
SCOTTY came into the shelter in southern AL as a stray but we know he wasn't a stray long cause he's been too well carried for so we are sure someone dumped him, why we don't know. His nails were not long and his teeth are not bad so that tells us someone loved him at one point. He was scared to death in the shelter but when we got him home he was great. He is housebroken if taken out on a regular schedule, will go out side when you ask him and gets along with all the other dogs here. He loves to sleep in the big bed and begs to get up there. Scotty has decided that he likes his foster brother better than his foster sisters. So a home with another male dog would be perfect for him. He is a pure couch-potato. If you want someone that looks at you like you've just hung the moon than that boy would be SCOTTY. Don't let this boy slip thru your fingers if you are planning on getting at adult dachshund. He's very laid back and would get along with just about anything. He is UTD on all shots and on interceptor and frontline.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue.
More about SCOTTY
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
