She appears to be a Chihuahua Dacshund mix with ears that won't lay down and her slightly longer legs. If she is a pure bred then she could just be a product of poor breeding. Sassy is crate trained and walks well on the leash. Since her legs are alittle longer she can jump or climb most baby gates. She know how to used a doogie door but is housebroken if you take her out on a regular basis. She is good with other dogs and gets along well with my 3 standard boys here. I do think she would like a home with another dog to play with since she is so young. She likes all humans and will probably do well with children. I'm not sure if she would get along with cats but think she would try to play or chase with them so only a dog friendly cat home will be considered. Sassy is a well balanced pup and while she likes to play she also like to naps and chew on rawhides. She appears to want to be around her human alot so I don't think she would run off. She recently got her head stuck in a fence so she has some abrasions on her left ear. We do not know if the hair will grow back or not. She is UTD on shots, negative for HW and on preventative. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
