REMMY IS SHY AT FIRST BUT WILL WARM UP WHEN HE KNOWS YOU'RE OK. HE IS GOOD WITH A FEMALE DOG BUT BEST WITH NO MALE DOGS. WE'D SAY NO CATS. REMMY came to us from a shelter in MS after he was picked up as a stray. Remmy appears now to be housebroken and sleeps in a crate or the big bed and is trained to a crate. He will do best in a home that has a fenced in yard. Don't know about cats but better no kids or older kids due to his shyness issues. He is UTD on all his shots, heartworm negative and on Interceptor and Frontline. Remmy has come a long ways since being in foster care and will be just a wonderful dog for the right family. He is great with the foster dad and mom and really likes to sneak a nap in the big bed with foster mom when she lays down for a nap. He will be happy to keep the squirrels out of your yard and will bark when someone comes in the yard but knows what "no" means. If you'd like to know more about Remmy please contact foster mom, Diane at nashcat50us@yahoo.com

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
