RAIN MAN'S POEM A Rainy Life So much fear; No kind people here. Locked in a cage, And kept to make babes, Till I'm too tired and weak, Frail, frightened and meek. Freedom at last; A new home so fast! But these people aren't good! Don't treat me as they should. They hurt me so much, I don't like their touch I'm away from that place, By God's loving Grace. A new chance to shine; I'm going to be fine. Released from my past, To love life at last. Rainy's Prayer Show me love; Teach me to trust; Give me peace of mind; Grant me happiness; Let sad memories fade, And new life begin. Amen
Rain Man is an adorable little man who loves to play. He is a housebroken, 6 year old, neutered, smooth, mini. He weighs only 10 pounds and would make a great addition to a quite family. He is shy at first, and spooks easily, but he warms ups very quickly. He is a cuddle monster that likes to sleep in the big bed. He gets along well with other dogs, and well behaved children who are respectful of dogs. Rain Man does have some trust issues that should be easily resolved by working on his socialization skills. Rain Man’s ideal home would be a quite, patient home, willing to socialize him, and one with plenty of time to play his favorite game chase the laser. He is housebroken to a doggie door, but like every dog, he will need a refresher course in his new home. Rain Man is a healthy, vibrant dog that is up to date on his vaccines, on prevention, and ready to go to his forever home. If you have any questions about Rain Man, please email his foster mom. If you are interested in adopting Rain Man please read our adoption information and fill out our on-line adoption application.

Good with Dogs, Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
