Piglet--5 years old, 11 pounds and at a healthy weight, very feisty and playful. Adores a lot of attention and just wiggles all over whe he gets it. He likes baths but hates getting his nails trimmed. Was neutered last week...he does still mark a little bit, housetrained. Heartworm negative and on Heartgard and Frontline.
Both of these guys love people and are very friendly to everyone they meet. The previous owner said that they were not good with small children, though. They are extremely bonded to each other and must be close to each other at all times. They look to one another for support and really truly love each other. They have been together for most of their lives. If you are interested in adopting these two please go on line to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online adoption application and be sure to put their names JOSE AND PIGLET on the app., we have kept the adoption fee down so you get two for the price of one but will double your love and devotion.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
