OLIVER was turned into a shelter in AL THREE different times one by the orginal owner, grandchild too mean to dog, second time other dogs too aggressive to OLIVER third time was kept less than 24 hours and returned "didn't work out" was all that was said. At that point we were FINALLY called we should have been called the first time. For the life of us we can't understand why he was returned at all he is just the sweetest sweetest thing. He is a little shy at first but warms up pretty quick. Will follow you everywhere and if he can get out the door ahead of you HE WILL BOLT. He is HOUSETRAINED but will have an accident if you don't get him out or leave him out long enough to finish his business. Does ok in a car and walk ok on a leash. He does like to be cuddled and loved on but doesn't like to be left alone so someone that works from home or is retired would be great for this little guy. He just needs someone to finally spoil him the way he should have been in the last three homes he was in.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
More about OLIVER.....AL
Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
