About NICKIE...AL

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
NAME......................................NICKIE DACHSHUND.......................PURE/TWEENIE COAT......................................SMOOTH COLOR..................................BLACK & TAN AGE........................................1+ YR GENDER...............................MALE/NEUTERED WEIGHT................................12 LBS ADOPTION FEE...................250.00+10.00(chip fee) CONTACT Diane at nashcat50us@yahoo.com NICKIE came from Bowling Green, KY where he was surrendered to the shelter cause they couldn't house break him. He does fine as long as you keep in on a schedule and praise him for doing his business outside. Housetraining a dachshund takes work and being consistant and giving lots of praise and then they may still potty in the house if it's raining or they are mad at you or they just don't feel like going out. If you are not prepared for this then you don't want a dachshund. NICKIE is sweet sweet and is just now learning to play with other dogs(we think he was an only dog) and he plays so funny. His head is down and his butt is up in the air. He is coming out of his shell more and more and is just the sweetest dachshund. He is not aggressive to either male or female but don't know about cats. He would be great around kids. He is UTD on all shots, neutered and on heartworm prevention. He does have a spot of ringworm that we are treating with medication but don't let that stop you from adopting this sweet sweet boy. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
