BEING FOSTERED IN TN
NICK HAS GOTTEN MUCH BETTER AND WITH CONTINUED REINFORCEMENT HE WILL MAKE A GREAT FAMILY MEMBER....YOU CAN NOT ALLOW NICK TO GET AWAY WITH THE AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR OR HE'LL BE RIGHT BACK TO THE WAY HE WAS....I USE A VERY STRONG "NO", SQUIRT BOTTLES AND LOOKING HIM RIGHT IN THE EYE!!
NO MALE DOGS.....NICK IS AN ALPHA MALE......
NICK was an owner surrender due to some issues that he has and for that reason he can only go to an experienced dachshund person that will continue to work with him. He is very protective of his family to the point of being aggressive of anyone that comes onto his property. He needs to be taught that he is not the head of the family and he's on the low end of the pack. This will take some work but it can be done. He does fine with cats and other dogs but because of his possessiveness NO CHILDREN.
He loves his family and loves to cuddle and sleep in the big bed and just be with you.
He is UTD on all shots, housebroken, loves car
rides and walks on a leash. Does need to have a fenced yard so he can run and play.
Please only respond if you have a fenced in yard and are doxie experienced.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
