MCKENZIE came from a shelter in middle AL. Owner turn in we don't know why cause she is the sweetest most gentle girl we've seen in a while. She gets along with all dogs, would be fine with kids over 5 and we are sure cats as well. She is UTD on all shots and tested negative for heartworms and now on HW prevention and on Frontline. We'd like to see her go to a home with a fenced in yard as she does like to take a stroll around the yard. She is potty trained to a doggie door and as eager as she is to please it wouldn't take many treats for her to catch on. We'd also like to see her go to a home with maybe one other dog so she wouldn't get lost in the shuffle of a multi dog home. Please fill out an online app to make this pretty girl yours.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog plesae go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
More about MCKENZIE...TN
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
