WHAT DO YOU MEAN I'M NOT 100% DACHSIE!!!!!
Momma was but daddy was a traveling man so we didn't get to see him. The momma came to a neighborhood pregnant and a wonderful family took her in and let her have her babies(3 have found homes) but they needed help from Dachshund Rescue to help find homes for these sweet babies. Momma will be spayed so now more babies. Now back to Anton, he's a talker, likes to squeak but very very sweet. Just likes to cuddle in. Was around small children from the get go so would be great with someone with same children. They also won't have the fragile backs that dachshunds have. Anton like to play and beat his sister up, well he thinks he is anyway. He has had his first set of shots and been wormed twice now, will be ready for a second set of shots in a week or 2. He is doing well with paper training and eating puppy food too. If you are interested in adopting Anton please go to our website and fill out an application.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog plesae go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
