DACHSHUND......................................PURE/MINI COAT.....................................................SMOOTH COLOR.................................................BL & TAN DAPPLE AGE.......................................................1.5 YRS WEIGHT...............................................8-9 LBS ADOPTION FEE................................. 250.00 + 10.00 chip fee CONTACT nashcat2@bellsouth.net This boy came in as a stray from KY and half starved. He was very food aggressive and scared to death. Since being in foster he's not as aggressive to other dogs but we feed him a crate just in case he is still very food aggressive. He seems to be very people friendly and loves being with humans and being cuddled and sleeping in the big bed with foster mom. He does love it outside and must have a fenced in yard. Not sure about cats but old children over 12 would be ok and possibly the only dog or a female since he may always be food aggressive. He acts like he wants to play but I just don't think he knows how. He may learn in time. He is very sweet and does fine riding in a car and walking on a leash. Does fine in a crate as well. Uses the doggie door so not sure about how he would do without one. He is UTD on all shots on Frontline and Interceptor. If you are interested in Link please go online to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and remember a home visit is required and out state adoptions are welcome.

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
