BEING FOSTERED IN MIDDLE TN.......
LILY was given up cause the people were moving and couldn't take her with them. She is very very sweet but shy at first but will warm up within the first day. She apprears to be housebroken and is fine with the other dogs here in foster. She also came from a family with kids but not sure about cats. She loves to follow you all over and is very submissive when you go to pick her up. We really want her to have a fenced in yard but walks ok on a leash. We think she'd love to have another younger dachshund to play with and keep her company. She is not used to a crate and we'll doesn't care for them but we think if trained to one she'd be fine. She is utd on all shots and heartworm checked and will be chipped before going to her new forever home. If you'd like to make this pretty girl you new exersise partner please go on line and fill out an app. We'll also be happy to answer any additional questions about her.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
