Lassie also came from a breeder surrender, originally from WV. Lassie is a little shy but will warm up quickly and loves to be showered with love and kisses and she will return it 10 fold. She is house trained to a doggie door. She loves to spend her days sleeping in the doggie beds and her nights sleeping with her humans. She gets along with other dogs, older children(over 8) and we think cats.
She has had a dental, all her shots including rabies, and bordetella. She has been heartworm checked and on Interceptor and Frontline and had a fecal. If you think you'd like to make Lassie a forever member of your family please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online adoption application and make sure you put her name down as the one you are interested in. We will begin working on your application as soon as we get it and welcome out of state adoptions but do require a home visit for all applications.
We now microchip all of our dogs going to forever homes and just ask that you keep the chip in our name for one year and at the end of that year just contact us and we'll give you the information to have her put in your name.
Lassie says "please I wanna come home"!!

Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
