She and Jade came from the same home. Unfortunately their former family was moving and could not take the girls with them. When they came into foster care they were very scared and submissive urinated everywhere anytime you got near them. They are doing much better now as they have been in foster care for a few weeks. These girls are mostly house broken, and if you keep a potty pad down if they have an accident they will use the potty pad so virtually no mess to clean up. They both love to sleep in the big bed at night. Lady Bug is good with older kids, cats, other dogs. She does not ride well in cars, she just gets nervous. When Lady Bug came in we thought she had a flea allergy because some of her coat was missing, but now since she has been to the vet he thinks it was from poor nutrition. Her hair is growing back very nicely. These 2 girls will need to go together as they are very bonded. We had them apart for a few days to see if they could go to separate homes and Lady Bug did not eat well. They have a little sibling rivalry when it is dinner time but if you feed them in separate rooms they do just fine. They are also starting to play with toys now and coming out of their shells everyday. These girls are UTD & spayed. They are just looking for their forever home. IF you can find it in your heart and your home for this baby please put in an application or email their foster mom with any questions Out of state adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost off to the adopter. It is only $10.00.
Thank you for your interested in a rescue.

Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
