We don't know why. She as sweet as can be, a little shy but likes to cuddle. She does get along with the other dogs but seems to want to stick to herself but we think it's cause she's still not certain why she isn't at home with her owner. Little does she know they didn't want her and we aren't telling her!! She uses the doggie door but we think she still need a little work with housetraining at least until she learned your schedule. She doesn't seem to be as socialized as other puppies her age so possibly she wasn't taken out to meet people but that could be easily fixed. She is UTD on all shots and heartworm negative and now on Interceptor and Frontline. She has been chipped and ready to go to her new home. As sweet as this girl is don't wait too long or she'll be snapped up in a New York minute. Get your app in NOW...... Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
