About Jack.....LA

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Jack was hit by a car 2 months ago. With the help of an over-viligent foster mom, donations, ebay auctions and an AWESOME vet, Jack has made a near 100% recovery. He walks with barely a limp now and can run with the best of 'em. He does sometimes carry his back leg when he runs, but that's to be expected. He is as good as new now and is ready for his new home. At 2 years old, and barely 14 pounds, Jack knows no limits. He loves to play, wrestle, run, and he even plays "tricks" on the other dogs. He waits on the outside of the doggie door, just to the side so the other dogs can't see him. When they poke their heads out, he JUMPS at them, scaring them half to death! I can just see him laughing LOL. He is such a funny boy with TONS of energy. Jack would love to have another high-energy friend to play with. He is food protective, so I just feed him seperately from the other dogs and he's just fine. Jack is crate trained and uses a doggie door. With a doggie door, he's not had an accident in the house, but as with all dachshunds, re-inforcement is the key. Always expect accidents with a dachshund in the house! Jack is good with children, but he is rambunctious, so smaller children might not be a good idea. Children over 7 would probably be best for him. Jack is Heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered, and has new hardware in his leg. He is ready for a home of his own with a fenced in yard so he can run and play! If you are interested in Jack, please fill out an application today! Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue.
To fill out an application for this dog plesae go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
