JJ WOULD DO BEST AS AN ONLY DOG AS HE WANTS ALL THE ATTENTION....WOULD BE GREAT FOR A RETIRED PERSON OR SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE TIME!!
BEING FOSTERED NEAR NASHVILLE, TN
NO CHILDREN/ JJ is a fear biter but if you give him room and time he will warm up to you.
J.J. also came from the same shelter as HANS but at different times. J.J. isn't as happy go lucky as HANS, he was left out in the yard by a man that his only pertection from the weather was a plastic crate. You can tell that JJ was not socialized and possibly abused. When he came to us he would not make up to either my husband or I and would try to growl and snap at us when we'd go to put our hands down to touch him. He made up to my husband first within 2 days and he took longer with me at 5 days but the wait was well worth it. He's a sweet sweet boy that loves to sleep up by your head in the big bed and will lay there all night long and not more or say a word. I'm sure JJ thinks he's gone to heaven compared to how he lived before. He is potty trained to the doggie door and loves to run inside and out and gets along with all the fosters here. I would say NO CATS AND NO CHILDREN. JJ would be better going to a single person or an older couple that has the time and patience to wait for him to come to you. If you do the reward is well worth the wait.
JJ is UTD on all shots on Interceptor and Frontline and also had a dental. If you are interested in adopting JJ or want more info on him please e mail his foster mom listed above and I'll be happy to answer whatever questions you have. If you want to adopt JJ then please go to our website www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and be sure to put his name on the app,
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost off to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue.
More about J.J.....VA
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
