NO CHILDREN UNDER 16 YRS!!!!
HEIDI was dumped at the shelter cause the family got a new puppy and HEIDI and the new puppy didn't get along!! We have all of her vet records from the time she first came to the family and they dumped her!!
HEIDI is a very very sweet girl, just wants to have a nice place to curl up and nap(hopefully in your lap) or a doggie bed will do. She is fully housebroken and very laid back. She is fine with cats, other dogs but no children under 16 yrs since she is a senior, alot of activity would make her nervous. We just can't understand why a family would have a dog for 9 yrs and then get a new puppy and give up the old but then we guess that's why we're here cause people do things like this all the time. We only hope that the family that gave her up gets dumped by their kids when they get old too, then they'll know how HEIDI feels. But she is safe now and waiting for that family that won't dump her again. If you are interested in knowing more about HEIDI please contact the foster mom or better yet be her knight in shining armor and adopt her forever. Go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an adoption application, you won't be sorry with this one.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome, we have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible. A home visit is required. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interested in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog plesae go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app.
More about HEIDI...TN
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
