About HANNAH...GA

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
DACHSHUND.............................PURE/TWEENIE COAT............................................SMOOTH COLOR.........................................RED AGE...............................................2 YRS WEIGHT.......................................11 LBS ADOPTION FEE..........................250.00 + 10.00 CHIP FEE CONTACT...................................nashcat2@bellsouth.net Hannah was an owner surrender due to owner traveling and Hannah being very shy. We feel she needs to be in a home with other dogs so she can learn that humans only want to love her not hurt her. We feel that at one time she was probably either a puppymill dog or abused and didn't have much human contact. We will be working on that but the adoptive home needs to as well. We think she would do best in a woman only home and no small children as she frightens very easy. We think cats would be ok as well. She is crate trained but when going into a new home has potty issues but when she becomes more secure those should go away. She is going to need someone that either works from home or is home alot and will continue to work with her and reassure her that she is loved and has nothing to fear. If you are interested in becoming Hannan's live saver than please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online app and put her name on it as the one you are interested in. Out of state adoptions are welcome and home visit is required. If you do not think you can work with a dog that is very shy and scared than please do not consider adopting her cause taking her and giving her back arter two weeks would only be worse for Hannah than you not adopting her at all......

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
