Fritz had to be surrendered cause he didn't get along with the non-dachshund of the family and the owner was afraid that FRITZ would get hurt. He is house trained to a doggie door, fenced in yard is a must as he will escape and be gone. He will chase cats if they run from him but if they stand their ground and are used to dogs he will just look at them. Kids over 5 is OK if they know how to treat animals and are not mean or aggressive towards them. He gets along with all the other(male and female) dachshunds here at his foster home. He likes to sleep in the big bed with his foster mommy. But will sleep in a doggie bed if you are on the computer or watching TV. He walks great on a leash and rides well in a car but is not crazy about his crate but will not say anything if he can see you. This boy has not isssues as long as you don't have any other dogs other than Dachshunds!! Please give FRITZ a new forever home where he will be loved like he was for the first 7 yrs of his life. Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
