A kind person saw him and took him in and now he's with us. We've had him vetted, he was heartworm positive and we've treated the heartworms and now due to the fact that he had so many heartworms he substained a lot of damage to his heart and has to be on a heart pill for the rest of his life. This medication is very inexpensive. Other than that Farley is very healthy and loves just loves to play and carry around squeaky toys. He will look for his squeaky toy when you squeak it and will grab it away from the other dogs. Farley would make a great dog for an older person or couple cause all he wants to do is lay in his doggie bed, eat and play with his toys. He is not housebroken but if taken outside will potty outside but if you don't take him out he will potty in the house. We just need to find a loving forever home for Farley for how many years he has left. That could be a year or it could be 8 yrs we just don't know. Is Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
