DUCKIE IS A SURVIVOR AND NEEDS A SPECIAL MOMMY OR DADDY IN HIS LIFE. WHEN DUCKIE CAME TO ME HE WALKED ON HIS ELBOWS AND HAD A HUMP IN HIS BACK. APPARENTLY SOMEONE KEPT HIM IN A CONFINED AREA WHERE THIS LITTLE BOY COULD NOT STAND UP. HIS FEET WHERE LIMP BECAUSE HE NEVER GOT TO STAND ON THEM. HIS BACK HUNCHED BECAUSE HE WAS IMPRISONED. BUT LIKE I SAID DUCKIE IS A SURVIVOR. HE NOW CAN WALK ON HIS FEET THE HUNCH IN HIS BACK ALMOST GONE. HIS COAT IS SHINY AND HE IS GETTING STRONGER EVERYDAY.WITH HIS SWEET LITTLE PERSONALITY YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW WHAT THIS LITTLE BOY WENT THROUGH. HE LOVES TO RUN AND PLAY AND LOOKS LIKE THE HAPPIEST PUP IN THE WORLD. HIS ORDEAL IS NOT OVER. HE STILL NEEDS A LOT OF EXERCISE TO STRENGTHEN HIS MUSCLES AND LENGTHEN HIS TENDONS. HIS NEW MOMMY OR DADDY WILL HAVE TO DO STRETCHERS WITH HIM 2 X'S A DAY AND MAKE SURE HE GETS TO RUN AND PLAY ALL HE CAN. HIS FRONT LEGS HAVE NOT STRAIGHTENED OUT COMPLETELY BUT WE THINK THEY WILL WITH TIME, EXERCISE AND LOTS OF LOVE. HE HAS COME AROUND REMARKABLY. DOCTORS SAY DUCKIES PROBLEMS ARE NOT SKELETAL, BUT SOFT TISSUE. WILL DUCKIE EVER BE ENTIRELY PHYSICALLY NORMAL? WE DON'T KNOW. WILL IT STOP HIM FROM FROM DOING ALL THE THINGS HE WANTS TO? NO! SO IF YOU ARE WILLING TO BE LOVED BY THIS LITTLE BOY AND WILL BE WILLING TO HELP HIM THROUGH THIS RUFF TIME IN HIS LIFE HE WILL REWARD YOU WITH KISSES, A WARM LAP AND WILL LOVE YOU BEYOND WORDS. WILL YOU BE THAT SOMEONE SPECIAL IN HIS LIFE! He is UTD on shots and on Interceptor and frontline he will need the rest of his shots and neutering when he is adopted. WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR DOGS CARGO, TOO MANY HORROR TALES HAVE HAPPENED FOR US TO FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING THIS. IF WE CAN'T TRANSPORT BY LAND THEN YOU'LL HAVE TO FLY TO THE CITY THAT THE DOG IS BEING FOSTERED IN TO GET HIM/HER. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard or down to FLORDIA. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

More about DUCKY....FL

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
