Dorrie is very shy and can be a fear biter but once she knows that you will not hurt her she warms up quickly and becomes the most loving of dogs. She loves to give you loves of kisses on your face and she loves to cuddle and sleep in the big bed with her foster mom. Foster dad is ok but she does prefer foster mom. She does not like strange men and this could be due to her abuse. She appears to be house trained at least to a doggie door and would not be hard to house train if you don't have one as she only wants to please. She is UTD on all shots on Interceptor and Frontline. Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
