WE HAVE DECIDED IT WOULD BE BEST TO SEPARATE THESE TWO SO THEY WILL GO TO SEPARATE HOMES WITH ANOTHER FEMALE OR FEMALES NO MALES THEY DO NOT DO WELL WITH OTHER MALES.
DODGER surrendered due the death of the owner. A good friend was keeping the dogs but had to give them up due to him moving and he has his own dogs. These boys are beautiful!! If you've never seen a standard piebald before here is your chance to own a pair. They get along great, argue once in a while but not much and doesn't amount to anything. They are housebroken and love the doggie door so they can come and go as they please but not necessary to adopt them. They have been around a cat when they were younger. They are fine with older kids but need to warm up to them. They do fine with all the dogs in the foster home. When they got here DODGER was more outgoing than OLIVER(shy) but now that they have been here for a while they are fine. They sleep in a crate at night on their blanket that came with them and that will go with them to their new home. They don't like their nails clipped but love a bath. They are UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and Frontline. They will be ready to go to their new homes anytime after the 5th of Oct. Oh can't keep halters on them as they will chew each others off but they are fine with collars. Please give these boys the wonderful home they deserve.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about DODGER3...TN
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
