Dodger is a sweet boy but he is hand shy if you come at him to fast but oh my, does he want to please. He has learned crate training very fast and is doing good on going outside but wants you to go with him. He loves children and cats and he is fine with his foster brothers and sisters but really just wants to cuddle to his humans. He sleeps with his foster mom so close she thinks he is afraid she will go away forever in the night. The vet thinks I am about two to three yrs old my nose an mouth really are ok but someone hurt me some time in my life around that area. I have huge platypus feet my foster mom loves my front feet. Would you be my new mom and dad?? I will promise to always love you!! I just need extra love an understanding thanks Dodger.
Dodger is UTD on all shots and on Interceptor and Frontline. If you are interested in making Dodger a member of your family please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an online application and make sure you put his name on the app. Out of state and Canadian adopters are welcome and a home visit is required. Thank you for your interest in a rescue.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
