She has not been socialized much but she is learning quickly that people are not all bad. She doesn't care for bigger dogs so we think a home by herself or with one other dachshund who is laid back or an older dachshund. No small children as noise does make her neverous so a home with no children would be best. She does need a fenced in yard as well. Cats would be fine. She is shy at first with her people but will warm up when she knows you are ok and won't hurt her. She is UTD on all shots, heartworm negative and on Frontline and Interceptor. This is one sweet girl and deserves a great home. Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
