DEREK is beging fostered in Middle TN.....
DEREK is a sweet sweet boy that loves to play and gets along with all the other dogs in the foster home. He lives kids too and just doesn't know a stranger. He is doing very well on his housebreaking skills but could have an accident or two being young. He has lots of energy and loves to us the house as a race track with the other dogs. He is UTD on all shots, on Interceptor and frontline.
Derek came from a shelter down in AL not sure if he was a stray or owner surrender. Doesn't really matter as he's happy he found SSDR cause he knows we'll find him a great home. If you are that great home looking for a playmate for you or your other dog this is the boy for you. Look how his coat shines!! He is just a little leggy but he's all doxie!!
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
