She is a little shy as well but loves her food and will come around fairly fast if she knows you won't hurt her. She love just loves to sleep in the big bed but does fine in a crate as well. She appears to be house train as least to a doggie door. She gets along with other dogs but is more afraid of the larger dogs rather than the mini's like herself. She loves to sleep on hubby's lap while he watches tv and would be great for someone that is home alot or works from home as she follows you all over like a shadow. She will totally vetted which includes, all shots, rabies, fecal, heart worm check, dental and spay. She will also be on frontline and interceptor. If you are interested in her please fill out an online app at www.ssdr.org. Understand that their is a 10.00 chipping fee that is added to the adoption fee and the chip will stay in SSDR's name for one year and then can be registered in adopters. Out of state adoptions are welcome and a home visit is required. These pictures do not show it but she really is a cream!!

Is Not Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
