NO YOUNG CHILDREN 14+...........
Meet Bo! This distinguished little gentleman is being fostered in KY. He was surrendered to us because his elderly owner was no longer able to provide for his care due to her own health issues. Bo is spry and active for his 11 years. He is about 13 lbs. and has been lovingly cared for all of his life. Bo has settled into his foster home quite nicely. He gets along with his new doxie foster brothers and sisters and occasionally will bark at the cat. He loves to spend his days sleeping in his cozy bed or meandering around the yard exploring the new scents and sounds. He is allowed free roam of the house as he is house-trained and not destructive in any way. Bo loves walks too. When he sees his leash, he becomes very excited and it is obvious that he wants to take a walk. He would make anyone a great walking companion. Bo did exhibit some signs of being a fear biter (growled as a warning and tried to nip when picked up) but this is diminishing as he becomes more comfortable here and learns to trust his new guardians. For this reason, however, we are only considering older persons or couples for adoption of this little guy. He still has many years of great companionship to offer and only asks for a warm bed, good food and company. Bo will be vet checked and up-to-date on all vaccinations, and is on heartworm preventative. If you have further questions, please contact Bos foster mom at prayzpaws@yahoo.com.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
More about BO2...AR
Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
