BEING FOSTERED IN MIDDLE TN!!
BEN came from a shelter in OH and brought to TN by another rescue. He was very calm but a little on the timid side but has loosened up since being here for a week or so. He gets along with all dogs here and is very low key. Not a barker or trouble maker. Just wants to kick back and find a lap or a doggie bed to sleep in or will play some with the other fosters. He is UTD on all of his shots and heartworm neg and on Interceptor and Frontline. He is ready and willing to go to his new forever home and doesn't ever want to go back to another shelter again and doesn't know why he was there to begin with cause he's really an angel of a dog. Very sweet, laid back and appears to be housebroken to the doggie door anyway. WHY would you give up a dog like that. I his foster mom and foster to many have ask myself that question over and over again and come up with the same reason, it's NOT THE DOG, it's the PEOPLE THAT NEED TO GO TO THE SHELTERS!! We'd love to see a doggie door and fenced yard for BEN as well.
Anyway BEN said he just wants to move on so please if you are interested in this beautiful boy please adopt him as he will not last long.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle.
More about BEN...NC
Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
