BEING FOSTERED IN MIDDLE TN..........
BAXTER & SIMON came in together as a pair of brothers from AL. They were given up by their owners due to having a multi-dog home and these two were not getting the attention they needed. Unfortunately, this was the second home they had been in. I believe part of the reason is that Baxter craves all the attention and can get jealous when the other dogs get more than he does. He loves to curl up on my lap and prefers none of the other dogs come close by. After proper evaluation, it is recommended that Baxter be placed in a home by himself where he is the center of attention.
BAXTER is UTD on all shots and Interceptor and Frontline. He is housebroken but expect some accidents until he gets used to your schedule. Please open your home and heart to Baxter; it is about time he found a home to call his own, forever.
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. We will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don’t please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to verify all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.

Is Not Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
