BEING FOSTERED IN MEMPHIS, TN
Alice came to us from Georgia where she was found as a stray. After spending time with this little girl I can’t figure out why someone would abandon her. If you’re looking for a lap dog, Alice is the girl for you. She loves being with her mommy and daddy all the time. Her favorite place to be is lying close to them. She also enjoys playing with children and other dogs. I do not know how she is with cats because she has not been exposed to any here. She is a special needs dog because she has an allergy to fleas, so she has to be on Frontline all the time. Before Alice came to us, she had broken her leg and it has healed stiff. She walks on it without any pain and with a slight limp, but she gets around great. She can go up and down stairs great, but if you are on the couch or on the bed she will give you a look and little whimper to let you know she needs help up. She loves to sleep in a big bed because there is no place she would rather be than close to her mommy and daddy. This little girl has so much love to give. She can’t wait to go to her forever home so she can finally call a place home. Won’t you be that home??
WE WILL NOT SHIP OUR DOGS BY PLANE.........
Out of state and Canadian adoptions are welcome. We have several transporters that for a fee will bring the dog as close to you as possible up the Eastern seaboard. A home visit is required on all adoptions. We also micro chip all our dogs and must pass the cost on to the adopter. It is only $10.00. Thank you for your interest in a rescue. To fill out an application for this dog please go to www.ssdr.org and fill out an app. we will be in touch shortly to do a phone interview. It is also best to have a dog in mind that you would like to adopt or if you don't please let us know that you'd like a dog that best fits your lifestyle. Keep in mind that we are all volunteers and have other obligations so please let your references and vet know that we will be calling to vai all info that you put on your application. If you use two vets then please let us know that so we get all info on your dog possible to determine if you are a suitable home for our dog. If you do not let us know these things this maybe the factor that you will be turned down to adopt one of our dogs.
More about ALICE...FL
Not Good with Cats
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
