BIO (7/8/2019):
Good with other animals!
Sweet personality!
Wants to be with her humans at all times
Needs a home with another social dog and/or a human who is home a lot
This beautiful standard girl was surrendered along with her pups to a shelter in Alabama by people who said they could not care for them. Her pups were adopted and she found herself in rescue. Dolly has only been in our home for a few days, but we can already tell you she is SWEET! It will take a couple more weeks for us to see her true personality shine through, but as of right now she is a “sticktight.” Dolly wants to be with her humans at all times. She is great with the other animals in the home and is happy to go barking alongside them. When we brought her home, she slept quietly in the passenger seat. Updates will be posted as we learn more!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
