BIO (7/2/2019):  If you’re looking for a teeny tiny sweetheart, Mimi is your girl!  Foster mom can’t say enough wonderful things about this little charmer!  Mimi and another doxie were surrendered by their owner due to an upcoming move.  Mimi gets along beautifully with all the dogs in her foster home (3 females and one male).  She was a little vocal coming into rescue, but with a few stern “No’s” and the threat of a squirt from the spray water bottle, her barking is under control.  She is a very quick learner!

Mimi has melted the hearts of everyone she meets, especially at the vet’s office.  She has had a complete physical and been brought up-to-date on all her shots, been checked for heartworms, and had a full dental cleaning (didn’t lose any teeth either!).  Now she’s ready to have a family to love and spoil her.  BTW, except for a few gray hairs on her muzzle, you’d never guess Mimi is 9.  She is spunky and full of energy... a happy, happy little girl who will roll over in an instant to let you rub her belly!  If she’s missing, just look under the nearest blanket, she’ll be there,  promise!

Mimi is small enough to travel anywhere.  She rides well in the car in her crate, on your lap, or tethered to a seatbelt.  Looking for a traveling companion?  Mimi is happy to oblige!  Any questions?  Fill out an application and contact Mimi’s foster mom at meg1709@comcast.net.

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
