BIO:  Noah came from northern AL from a Craigslist ad.  The owner was afraid he would run over him like he did his last two Dachshunds.  Noah has always been an outside dog because the family didn’t want an inside dog.  So for that reason, if you are interested in adopting Noah, it will be like training a NEW puppy.

We do have some specific requirements for Noah's furever home:

  • You must have a fenced yard.
  • You must be home a lot to housetrain him using patience, consistency and treats.
  • You must have another younger dog for him to play with.
  • You must understand that he’s not been well-socialized.  He’s timid but he’s young and should get over it relatively quickly, especially if you have a lot of visitors and a well-socialized dog to help teach him the ropes.

We think he would be fine with cats because the man who surrendered him had outside cats.

While he may be timid, Noah is a sweet, sweet boy and deserves a great life!

Unless you are prepared to housetrain Noah, please do not apply.

More about Noah in TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Requires a yard, Timid

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
