BIO (4/8/2019): My name is Chopper and if I do say so myself, I’m a great dachshund! I love to be around people and I get along with cats and dogs! My first home really didn’t have time for me and I found myself outside a good bit of the time and then my second home couldn’t keep me so I have found myself in rescue with some good people that tell me my next home will be my Furever Family that will love and take care of me always.
The rescue group did a dental for me, which I have never had before, and I lost 29 teeth but I am doing fine and you won’t know I have that many gone.
I love being outside and running around the fenced yard and I love what they call a “doggie door” so I can come in when I want to. I enjoy playing with toys, walking on a leash, and laying next to you on the couch. I sleep well in my crate or really might like to be in the big bed with you. I have lots of energy and need another YOUNG dog to play with!
If you are looking to let me kiss all over your face, I’m the dachshund for you. Please give me a chance!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
