BIO (2/3/2019):  Tank came to us via an owner surrender.  He was given up because his past family just couldn’t give him all the necessary love and attention that he needed.  Tank has proven to be a wonderful little boy!  He is in need of socialization, so you will need to go slow with him when meeting new people.  He is very skittish of loud noises and fast-moving objects.  This is why his next home cannot have little kids.  They just scare him too much.

The home he came from had him trained to potty in a litter box, but we have been working on a doggie door with him.  He is slowly picking it up and is making positive strides.  He sleeps all night long in his crate and makes no noise.

If you are interested in knowing more about Tank or have questions, we would love to tell you all about him.  Please consider making Tank your next furry family member!

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
