BIO:  Baxter came from a breeder in Louisiana and was saved by a Good Samaritan. He is a sweet, sweet boy, a little shy at first but warms very quickly.  And he loves to play with whichever dog will play with him because he’s still a puppy.

If you do not have another young dog, a fenced yard, children over 10 years, and the time to house train him, please do not apply... we are going to be very picky where this little boy goes. You see he was going to be thrown away by the breeder because he has a heart murmur and we just could not let that happen so our promise to him is that we are going to find him the BEST home.

This little boy deserves the best and we are going to make sure he gets just that!

More about Baxter in TN

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast and mid-west. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
